Studebaker & Surveys Work LL 88
Columbia University

Project description
DM Engineers successfully provided full construction management services for Columbia University’s lighting and lighting control retrofit project at the 211,112-square-foot Studebaker facility, ensuring full compliance with New York City’s Local Law 88. The scope of work included coordinating all project activities with end users and contractors, meticulously tracking the installation of approximately 2,794 lighting fixtures, 3,653 lighting control devices, and upgrades across 750 spaces. The team thoroughly documented the resulting energy savings and diligently reviewed contractor payment applications to ensure alignment with project milestones and budgetary constraints.
By maintaining clear and consistent communication among stakeholders, the project was completed within the targeted 10-week timeline, optimizing operational efficiency and enhancing environmental performance. In addition to the work at Studebaker, DM Engineers successfully coordinated lighting surveys across several other Columbia University buildings, including Broadway Residence Hall (144,818 SF), Casa Italiana (34,150 SF), Knox Hall (52,009 SF), Kraft Center (31,781 SF), Schapiro Hall (117,504 SF), Watson Hall (34,271 SF), and William & June Warren Hall (83,132 SF). This effort involved scheduling audits for every space, assisting auditors during surveys, arranging building access, and addressing miscellaneous needs, further supporting Columbia University’s energy efficiency and compliance goals.
