Project description
Stonestreet Studios, a film and media production facility affiliated with New York University (NYU), undertook an upgrade of its existing HVAC systems to improve indoor comfort, reliability, and compliance with current energy standards. The project involved the replacement of outdated mechanical systems serving classrooms, studios, offices, and support areas within the building located at 48 West 21st Street in Manhattan.
DM Engineers PLLC provided full mechanical design and energy compliance services for the project, which included the development of new air distribution layouts, updated ventilation and exhaust systems, and integration of energy recovery equipment in accordance with the New York City Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC). The design coordination also encompassed façade louvers, equipment scheduling, and DOB documentation for plan approval and permitting.

The damage, caused by prolonged water infiltration in the tank room, prompted the replacement with a new 2,500-gallon double-wall fuel oil tank equipped with main level sensors and high/low-level alarms.
