John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 6 redevelopment project will deliver 1.2 million square feet of new state-of the art terminal facilities, nine new aircraft gates, critical supporting roadways, utilities, apron, ground transportation center, and provide for approximately 100,000 sf of passenger amenities. DM Engineers is providing commissioning services during the massive project’s design and construction phase. The commissioning scope encompassed all activities for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.

DM is also contributing with the achievement of LEED Silver Certification (BD+C) & Envision Gold Certification. The systems commissioned include to the central heating systems and distributing, central cooling system distribution, air-handling units, terminal units, including fan-coil units and VAV boxes, ventilation and exhaust systems , HVAC controls, lighting and daylighting controls, electrical service and distribution, electrical sub-metering, domestic hot water systems, pumps, and controls and renewable energy systems. Our team will be working on all aspects of the commissioning process including plan, manage, perform, and report on the commissioning activities, review design submissions and applicable submittals as required per LEED Fundamental of Commissioning and Enhanced Commissioning. Finally, DM will develop project specific integrated systems tests. These tests will include HVAC, Security, Electrical Life Safety, Vertical Transportation, and Airport Systems (including IT and baggage handling).
