Project description

One Brooklyn Health System (OBHS) upgraded critical HVAC infrastructure serving the four (4) operating rooms (OR) and preoperative areas, as well as the air handler unit serving the Central Sterile Department at Interfaith Medical Center (IMC) in Brooklyn.

The scope of work entailed the replacement and upsize of (2) major air handler units, the upsize of a 100-ton chiller to a 250-ton chiller, installation of new chiller water pumps, automatic control systems, operating room variable air volume boxes, a clean steam generator, and the implementation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to accommodate the new equipment.

DM Engineers served as the technical expert for the client. Our commissioning services included the review of the conceptual design through construction drawing development and support during the construction phase. Services included the development of the Owner Project Requirements (OPR), assistance to the design team during the design development phase, assistance to the construction team during the phasing plan for the project construction, design development plans and specifications engineering review, construction documents engineering review, field verification of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment installation, and testing of the equipment and project turnover in accordance with the design intent and owner requirements.
