NYPD 88 Precinct
Design Services for Central Air Conditioning
The NYPD 88th Precinct building, constructed in 1924 and encompassing 25,000 square feet, lacked a centralized air conditioning system, relying instead on window AC units and natural ventilation. Additionally, the building’s single 400 Amp electrical service was insufficient to meet the operational demands of the NYPD.
To address these issues, DM Engineers conducted a thorough assessment of the facility’s existing conditions and developed detailed design drawings and technical specifications for HVAC and electrical upgrades. During the construction phase, DM Engineers provided construction administration services, including preparing contract specifications and drawings for a new centralized HVAC system. The project also involved upgrading the building’s electrical infrastructure to support a 1,000 Amp incoming service, ensuring the building could meet modern operational- nal requirements. These enhancements significantly improved the building’s functionality and comfort.
