The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) on behalf of NYC Health + Hospitals (H+H) is currently undergoing construction to improve the resiliency of the Coney Island Hospital (CIH) with the effort to return the facility to full operation as quick as possible after the coastal flooding in October 2012 (Hurricane Sandy).
Under the umbrella of BR+A Consulting Engineers, DM Engineers PLLC is performing the construction administration and engineering support for the modification of the central plant and distribution systems for the existing building and installation of new equipment that will serve the new CIH Critical Care Structure (CSS). Firm roles include MEP BIM coordination and engineering support during the construction phase of the project. Project is inclusive of New Emergency Department, private patient and eighty acute care beds, Eight operating Rooms, twelve-bay PACU, CT Scan, MRI & Radiology, labor and delivery suite, endoscopy, sixty-four behavioral health beds and a clinical laboratory equipped with the latest technology, among other features.
