Columbia University engaged DM Engineers as an owner’s project engineer to oversee the replacement of the high-pressure boiler plant’s condensate polisher and softener while maintaining an operational 32-acre academic campus during construction.
Work involves planning and coordination to initially install new condensate softeners with all ancillary controls and electrical service. Subsequently, the chemical composition of the boiler water treatment is modified to allow for an equipment switchover without affecting the steam quality. Thereafter, the same process was utilized to change the three condensate polisher tanks. DM Engineers led the engineering and construction team during this project.
